Bicycle Cart 1c

Today I added a 1/4” plywood base to the frame.  Then strapped on a large plastic tub / bin with 2 bungee cords.  I also put 4 bricks in the bin and pulled it down some rough streets and a couple of alleys.  Just to see if it would stay in place or if I should add extra cords.

Here’s the plywood base.  I can carry a number of things if I strap them down.

80 quart bin with 4 bricks inside ...
held by 2 bungee cords.
This would hold 20 lbs. of potatoes, a bunch of
canned goods, snacks, and some hamburger too.

Here’s the complete rig that I rode around town.
Pulls really easy.  I have to remember it’s back there
when I make turns.  I’m longer than just the bike.

warrior trike version 3

I changed to the narrow seat to get a tighter turning radius.  Finally painted the frame!!  Yellow with some black highlights.  Here’s what it looks like now:

Right rear.
The ring on the rear wheel is for use of an Eagle Engines motor.
Which is not currently mounted.

Mach 3

Let’s see if I have a more current photo of the LWB Mach 3 - AD Carson design.

This is the Mach 2 before I upgraded to the Mach 3 ...
With the larger front wheel that matches the rear wheel size
I suppose I should paint it one of these years ...
But I like the decals of the original donor bike.
If you haven’t been riding it in awhile, it takes a few minutes to get used to that tiller steering!

Note the front wheel is larger ...
Matches the size of the rear wheel.
Tough to bend the front forks for this!

Here are the adjusted front forks.
Had to move the brakes position.
No, they haven’t broken or cracked in the more than 6 years
That I have ridden the Mach 3.

Note that the original bike front end is inverted
Which gives more rake

Here’s the neck that holds the tiller steering bar.
Here’s my tiller steering bar and handle bar.

That diagonal tube in the main frame is necessary
and controls the frame flex.

Bicycle Cart 1b

Let’s see if I can get these other photos on here ..

With bumpers and tongue

Cart  attached to bike

Hitch that I made (based on photos found)

Tongue attached to hitch

Cart attached to Sun Speedster SWB recumbent.
60 qt. tub held on with bungee cord.

Bicycle Cart 1

I hand 1/2” EMT tubing laying around, some extra front wheels, flux wire for my welder, and found some plans I had saved.  So, I decided that a cart would be nice to attach to my recumbent for hauling groceries from the local Food Shoppe.

basic  rectangle .. adding in the two straight pieces  where the wheels will go.
This was the plan I started with.
It comes from The Cart Book
(Which is out of print).
Adding bumpers so larger objects won’t rest on wheels.
Wheels on.
Cross pieces added for load carrying strength..
